W.A. (Bill) Milton

Born this date (August 15), 1890 in North Carolina. The second of five children, he was a banjo and fiddle player. An older brother played fiddle, two younger brothers played mandolin, guitar, and piano. A sister in the middle joined in on the singing.

His family came to Blue Ridge, Texas before moving to Wolfe City where he married and settled, calling it home until his death in 1981.

He was affectionately called “Daddy Bill” by his six grandsons, the youngest being Lanny Milton, who went on to his own amateur musical career with several bands including the famous Bois d’Arc Bottom Band from the Northeast Texas area.
